Welcome!  Thank you for your interest in working with me, Shannon Maroney, owner of Peace of Mind Montana, LLC.

Whether you are entering therapy for the first time or have been engaged in the process before, it is a courageous step to take.  My practice is built on keeping things real, down to earth and practical.  With over 18 years of experience working in the field of mental health, I’ve learned that I dislike the therapy jargon (not to mention stigma) probably as much as the next person.  So I prefer to keep things simple and honest.

About Me: I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development and Family Science from the University of Vermont in 2006 and my Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Denver in 2011.  I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (#11936) and a Certified Professional Person (#502) in the state of Montana, since 2015.  I have provided expert testimony in civil commitment proceedings for over 9 years and have extensive experience working in community mental health and the criminal justice system.  I have experience working with families, adults with dual diagnoses, chemical dependencies, criminal justice involvement and incarceration.  My work over the past 18 years has focused on treating individuals with severe mental health conditions, providing crisis stabilization services in the community, conducting court ordered evaluations, providing expert witness testimony in civil commitment cases, and conducting court ordered domestic violence treatment, in the Gallatin Valley and surrounding communities. I am nationally certified in anger management and domestic violence treatment, and have conducted court ordered evaluations for over 4 years. I am contracted with the Montana Office of Public Defender (OPD) and provide evaluations upon request.
